Spend your days exploring whisky country, walking through ancient woodlands, discovering the stunning coastline or simply enjoying the space and tranquillity of your own private cottage within a historic property, set within the beautiful Glen of Rothes.
Originally built in 1873 as the carriage houses and stables of nearby Rothes Glen House, Brylach Steading has stood at the heart of Speyside for more than 150 years.
Today, the buildings have been thoughtfully restored into three premium self-catering cottages, carefully preserving their historic character while providing all the comforts of contemporary living.
Since becoming custodians of Brylach, we've continued to invest in both the cottages and the surrounding estate, always with the aim of respecting its heritage while creating somewhere guests can relax, reconnect and create lasting memories.
We often say that we don't really own Brylach—we're simply looking after it for the next chapter of its story. Every guest who stays here becomes part of that story, and it's a privilege to share this special place with visitors from around the world.

Experience Speyside
There’s a remarkable amount to discover around Brylach Steading. Set in the heart of Moray Speyside, on the edge of the Highlands, we’re surrounded by some of Scotland’s finest landscapes, outdoor adventures, food, drink and heritage — with the Cairngorms National Park close by and the River Spey running through the region.
Walk or hike through ancient woodland and open hill country, tackle Ben Aigen or Ben Rinnes, or explore some of the excellent local cycling and mountain-biking trails. Follow sections of the Speyside Way, one of Scotland’s great long-distance trails, or spend a day fly fishing on the River Spey. For golfers, there are some outstanding courses within easy reach, including beautiful links courses along the Moray coast.
Then there’s whisky. Even if you don’t drink it, the story of Speyside whisky is fascinating — a story of landscape, water, people, craftsmanship and generations of tradition. With an extraordinary concentration of distilleries close to Brylach, including The Macallan, it’s easy to explore the distilleries, warehouses, history and culture that have made this corner of Scotland famous around the world.
Beyond the outdoors and whisky, discover beautiful local villages, historic castles such as Ballindalloch and Brodie, traditional crafts and heritage, including the region’s long association with textiles and wool, and an increasingly exciting food and drink scene. The Moray coast is close enough for a day of beaches, seafood and coastal walks, while the Cairngorms open up a whole new world of lochs, mountains and adventure.
